Baumblutenfest
Once the main procession
and the short speeches have finished Werder swings into party mood. In
April 2007 with almost Midsummer temperatures of 27.C there was a good
turn out as people came from miles around including Berlin for the first
day of the Werder Bumblutenfest and with the local tipples like the sweet
erdbeer wein made from strawberries being a staggering nine-percent-proof
everybody had a good time. I left later in the afternoon but there seemed
to be no annoying drunkenness or fighting and nor were there any Nazi
Skinhead yobs who sometimes gather at these events. Why do we stay in
Britain!
