Even if the weather was really awful in Swizerland in early March I usually
managed to return home with a suntan as even if I couldn't make it south
to Lugano I reached closer Bellinzona at the foot of the Alps where the
climate too was usually springlike and warm. As the local post garage
did all the local bus contracts including the town services not only did
it have one of the lagest allocations with thirty vehicles there was more
variety here than at other garages. Unusual vehicles included a twenty-six
seater MAN. Until the PTT was broken up when the telecoms section was
sold off vehicles carried fleet numbers that strictly followed system
devised in 1963 wih the smallest types carrying numbers starting at 21000
upwards towards in theory a 29999.
