Grey Day Berlin
Berlin is grey and depressing
city on a cloud laden winter day but nowadays it is a lot more colourful
than in 1979 when this trio of slightly strange looking BVG buses did
nothing to dispel that gloom. The insipid cream livery was pretty standard
across both Germanys but apart from a few examples near Lubeck these Bussing
double-deckers were unique to Berlin. They continued to enter service
until 1974 when the manufacturer was taken over by MAN who introduced
a new model, albeit with rather less character and lacking the unique
sound effects that made each journey a memorable concert .
