During the Nineties I went to Switzerland regularly for a winter break and used Bern and Zurich as a base. For most day trips Zurich was ideal but in those days it was quite a marathon getting to Scoul tucked away in the far eastern corner next to Italy and Austria and especially as I would want to visit St. Moritz and Davos as well. However now the trip is a great deal shorter as a new tunnel takes well over an hour off the slow winding train journey through the rugged terrain of Graubunden. Small 1982 Mercedes P23313 was typical of many buses found here.
