When I was at school the local kids used to call the elderly buses which came in from Uttoxeter 'Stevensons Rocket'. However by the Nineteen-Eighties not only was the fleet starting to be modernised even brand new buses started to appear. At the main depot at Spath a couple of old Leyland Titans were awaiting disposal whist in the background still in Porstmouth colours a pair of Atlanteans await the yellow and black livery. At this time the operator still had less than fifty vehicles but fueled by deregulation by the time it sold out to Arriva it had expanded to over 250.
